About the Author

Christopher Thomas holds a doctor of philosophy degree (Ph.D.) from Tufts University and is Professor of Math at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. His research centered on Geometric Group Theory, exploring places where algebra and geometry meet. He is the author of Calculus Success in 20 minutes a Day (2006) and Trigonometry Success in 20 Minutes a Day (2007).

Barnett Rich (deceased) held a doctor of philosophy degree (Ph.D.) from Columbia University and a doctor of jurisprudence (J.D.) from New York University. He began his professional career at Townsend Harris Hall High School of New York City and was one of the prominent organizers of the High School of Music and Art where he served as the Administrative Assistant. Later he taught at CUNY and Columbia University and held the post of Chairman of Mathematics at Brooklyn Technical High School for 14 years. Among his many achievements are the six degrees he earned and the 23 books that he wrote, among them Schaum's Outlines of Elementary Algebra, Modern Algebra, and Review of Elementary Algebra.

Great refresher

It's been 16 years since I studied geometry in school and I wanted to brush up a little bit. In typical Schaum's fashion, the material is presented without any needless commentary, or jokes, etc. There are tons of problems. I found the book to be up to the standards of Schaum's. I would definitely recommend it to people that want to learn geometry, or get a refresher. I'm not sure teens would like the book. It's not designed to coddle the reader by entertaining them with stories and anecdotes; although, there is a little bit of history in there.

I give it four stars two main reasons:
1) I reserve 5 for exceptional quality. I'm a tough grader.
2) There is no online errata that I'm aware of.

Schaum's Outline of Geometry

I got this book to help my granddaughter who is studying geometry in eighth grade. She has been using it a lot before the school year started. She says it has given her a big jump on the other students. I heartily recommend the whole Schaum's outline series. I used them through undergraduate and graduate school. They are definitely the best bang for the buck.

I had the second edition of this book for several years. This edition is even better. I have been using it to aid some of my students who need additional practice outside their textbooks.

About the Author
Keith Richards is Professor of Geography at the University of Cambridge, where he is also a Fellow of Emmanuel College. He has been a member of the Department (University Lecturer, Reader, then Professor) since 1984, and before that was at the University of Hull. He originally graduated from Cambridge, both at Bachelor and PhD levels. During his career he has published in several areas of geomorphology, but his main research focus has been in fluvial geomorphology. He has been Secretary and Chairman of the British Geomorphological Research Group, and an editor of Earth Surface Processes and Landforms. He has written or edited nine books and about 150 papers.

His research interests have also included glacial hydrology, catchment and hillslope processes, and innovation in modelling and monitoring approaches in geomorphology and hydrology (such as terrestrial photogrammetry, MRI, computational fluid dynamics, and discrete element methods). Good Story

Georgie and Nina are best friends with one major difference. Georgie has long known she never wants kids and relishes the freedom that life choice brings. Nina on the other hand wants nothing more than to be a mother. Married for several years she and her husband have endured the rollercoaster of IVF with no success and it has taken its toll on their relationship. Deciding that she can't go through the torturous process again Nina and Georgie go out drinking one night and with her inhibitions lowered Nina asks her friend if she will be her surrogate.

Nobody is more surprised than Georgie herself when she reluctantly agrees to do the ultimate favour for her best friend. But as often happens in life things don't go quite as smoothly as planned, leading the two women on a journey that tests their friendship and teaches them surprising things about themselves. Georgie is hard to like at times and I can't say I really grew to enjoy her character. I don't know that she was as fully developed as she could have been, although she was realistic enough.

Although She's Having Her Baby explores the heartbreaking theme of infertility it does so in a way that includes many light hearted and humorous moments. Those who have been through pregnancy will relate to the cravings and unwelcome changes it brings to your body and those who haven't will gain some insight into what it is all about. The description of some of the mothers in the playground is funny but perhaps a little cliched.

All in all this is an enjoyable story with some surprising plot twists that kept it more interesting than the blurb suggests. I will say I enjoyed it more as it went along. The writing is good with an engaging style and the dialogue is natural and authentic for the characters. I also enjoyed the contemporary Australian setting. It is a promising debut for Lauren Sams and will no doubt appeal to those who enjoy an engaging chick lit novel.

funny and heartwarming

Such a fab debut novel, funny and heartwarming. Ms Sam deals with a heart rending topic with a deft, light touch, the dialogue and characters fairly spring to life on the pages. Look forward to reading more from this clever new voice.

Fantastic! I came across this book on Instagram and liked th cover. I downloaded it and tore through it in two nights! Great holiday reading, lots of laugh-out-lod bits. Reminded me a bit of Jennifer Weiner or Rainbow Rowell.
