Worthy investment

I have a book on how to take photographs but this one is specific to your camera. I am so happy this came out along with my new camera. The Nikon D5300 is my first dslr so I really enjoyed how this book goes into substantial detail over every technical function but on top of that, it teaches you about exposure and how to take a professional quality photograph as well.

Very good to have

This is a very good starting point for users of the Nikon D5300. The D5300 comes with not much of a manual, and I found that this one filled the gap. It is great that one can have this on one's Kindle or iPad, for easy reference in the field. I found that if I just read through this one like a novel and highlighted the important chapters that I wound up with a very handy reference guide. The author's writing is clear and helpful, unlike Nikon's "manual." RJB.

About the Author

Jerry J. Bigner, PhD,�was a�Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Human Development and Family Studies, Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, CO 80523, and retired in 2004 after 36 years of service in higher education. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of life-span human development, parent-child relations, theories of human development and family studies, marriage and family relationships, early childhood education, and research methods in human development and family studies. He also completed all course work and practicum requirements in marriage and family therapy and worked towards licensure in this area. His text, Parent-Child Relations, is now in its 9th edition, and he published two texts in life-span human development and family studies. He is the author or co-author of over 50 research articles focusing primarily on parent-child relations as well as relationship and family therapy issues. He was Editor of the Journal of GLBT Family Studies and served on Editorial Board of the Journal of Couple and Relationship Therapy. He was a research member of the American Family Therapy Academy and was a member of the National Council on Family Relations. Dr. Bigner was a 2005 Centennial Laureate Award recipient of the College of Human Sciences, Florida State University. He also was the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient of the College of Human Sciences, Florida State University.

Clara Gerhardt, MBA, PhD., is a Professor of Family Studies at Samford University. She is a Clinical Psychologist, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Certified Family Life Educator. Amongst her many publications, she documented the history of family therapy in a book chapter on global perspectives in family therapy. She writes Perspectives, a regular column, for a publication of the National Council on Family Relations. She has held positions as Chair of the Department of Family Studies and Chair of a State Board of Examiners in Psychology. As an Educator, she teaches Parenting, Lifespan Development, and Multicultural Perspectives. As part of her duties as Internship Supervisor, she has mentored Child Life as well as Child Development Education students. Dr. Gerhardt is the product of three continents, has professionally presented on six continents, has visited over sixty countries, and speaks five languages fluently. Her practical training is constantly updated by being a parent and a grandparent.

Text book for class

This was a great textbook, well written, educational, but not too difficult to understand. I actually would have read this book on my own free time despite the fact that it was required for a college course.

Good information, and easy read

Ordered this book as a rental, received it in two shipping days through Amazon Prime, no issues. A bit of a flimsy book, not a hard cover.

As far as content, I have read up to Chapter 8 so far, very resourceful book. I am finding it more interesting when it describes the stages of childhood, which has begun at Chapter 8. It would be nice if there were color pages, but that is okay. Easy read.

Valuable For The Right People

Unlike a previous comment, I have found this to be of more value than just a wall decoration. Sifu Louie Jac Man is a legend in Southern Mantis, demonstrating correct posture and hands.I still look up at it when training, and the maxims are also of great value.If you have students, it is also of great value as a reminder of posture, but also as a reminder of who is one of the Sifus responsible for the knowledge and transmission of this art. If you aren't a practitioner of this art, then I can see where it will be of little or no value, simply because a true martial artist would KNOW that this poster is not a stand alone material for instruction. Sifu Hagood has put out numerous material to aid in knowledge and practice of Southern Mantis.

Rather than listen to some bitter person who has no idea what this product is, you should add this to your collection if you train Hakka Mantis of any branch.

Material on South Mantis is like legs on snakes, very rare to find. Shifu Roger Hagood is to be commeded on putting the 18 hands on a medium where you can see all of them in once place.

The perfect Christmas read! Funny, sweet, and gripping! Adored it!

I absolutely adored this novel! It's the perfect treat for Christmas! Instantly I was on Kimmy's side after the opening scene with her super planner of a boyfriend! I could really relate to Kimmy, and so I instantly sided with her! Plus who doesn't think a cupcake business is a great idea? It sounded perfect to me! The descriptions of the buttercream icing were delicious and had me running to the cupboard to look for something sweet! When Kimmy and her BFF Jess end up at Mistletoe Mansion the fun REALLY begins! Kimmy meets the next door neighbour, celebrity WAG, and I thought those scenes added to the book so well! Again, I would have acted exactly the same as Kimmy! I loved how Melissa was so clueless about things about herself, and the way in which she developed as the story went on. There's a wonderful cast of characters in this book who each have their own upsets, like Jess, and Luke...speaking of Luke, as far as hot guys go, I really fell for him! And as the book went on even more so! But Kimmy was my favourite, with her Facebook status updates, and all her quirks, she was utterly loveable and relatable! There's a few twists and turns along the way which was great and I had no idea about the ghost and what would happen until the very end. it left me smiling, and desperately hoping there's a second book coming because I want to follow more of Kimmy's life!

Cute light hearted comedy

This wasn't a bad book, it was just ok. (The 3 stars from me is not that bad of a rating, trust me) At the beginning, I hated Adam. But then as we get to know Kimmy, I couldn't stand her. What grown woman is so obsessed with fame, fortune and celebs that she acts like a teenager? She was selfish and I felt had no work ethic. It took me awhile to get into this book. But I was surprised. The farther into the book I got, the more I enjoyed it. I suddenly came around to liking and enjoying Kimmy. Terry was great. I liked him. Luke was too hot and cold for me. I could never understand what he was thinking/feeling. It just didn't feel right.

There are a few editing errors in here. But if you want a light hearted romantic comedy for the holidays, grab this title. It won't blow you away, but it's sure to give you some giggles.

Getting older and fatter. I have tried low carb, Weight Watchers. exercise, my doctor's diet, Adkins. hyper exercise 30 day diets. pre cooked food diets and on and on. If i try very hard count my calories to 800 and exercise i might loose 10 lbs over time. The minute i eat or drink anything not on the diet I gain 2 lbs that day. I end up fatter than when I started. Now with this program I lost 4 lbs the first week without trying. I study a lot so exercise is minimal. I have all my life needed more sleep than the average person. I sleep soundly at night and need a 30 min nap every day. MOT ANY MORE! This program has changed my sleep pattern in one week. I do not nap and I stay up until 11 pm every night. THANK YOU FOR THIS BOOK!

So far so good!

So far so good. I have been following this book for a few weeks now and I have lost 8 pounds. I have learned a new way to eat. I don't feel as hungry anymore and my sugar is stable. The only part that's difficult is how much protein you have to eat. It's hard to find different sources of protein to pair with my carbohydrate. I'm worried I will eventually get tired of eating the same thing over and over again. But I'm hopeful that I will be able to stick with it.

Great explanation and easy to apply

Very informative and easy to follow. My diet has changed considerably since I've aged. I get that sugar is not my friend. After reading this book, I have been able to figure out why I had little success with weight loss even with minimal carbs. Combining my protein and carbs as this book suggests has helped me get results.
