Michael Salmond is a digital interaction designer, artist and digital theorist and currently teaches interaction and digital design at Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida, USA.

Gavin Ambrose is a practising graphic designer whose client base includes the art sector, galleries, publishers and advertising agencies. He has written and designed several books on graphic design, branding and packaging.

Very comprehensive and great for students/graduates

This book is perfect for those who are interested in getting a career in digital media / interactivity / web design or app making.

Not only does it show you lots of great examples, but my favourite part is that it gives a "behind the scenes" look at how different projects are put together and managed.

If you are a digital media student you will love this, because it shows you how the theory you learn in the classroom can apply to your projects on the job.

It is also great at explaining many of the different roles that you can work in, and it gives you a sense of just how broad the field of digital media has become.

I am late in writing this review - although I've already adopted this book for two of my classes! This book is a fantastic overview of developing and planning an interactive project. With a variety of examples and clear explanations of how these projects were approached, this text is perfect for my Interactive Media course. I also wanted to highlight the fact that the book itself is well designed. Not only in terms of flow, but in layout and typography. Unfortunately, many similar texts that talk about new media and or interactivity are unattractive to look at - not so this gem. There is something of a temporal nature to interactive texts, but the way this book underscores process makes it very relevant now.
